A 19-year-old Warrenton man has been charged with burglary, stealing and property damage after he broke into a Warrenton drug store early Wednesday morning.Steven Daniel Jeffries, Jr., was charged with second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and first-degree stealing, according to court documents.Warrenton police responded at 4:40 a.m. to an alarm at Stewart's Drug, 2227 East Boonslick, where they found a damaged window on the east side of the building, as well as piece of brick lying on the ground beneath the window.Minutes later, police heard several loud crashing noises coming from inside the store. Police saw Jeffries, wearing chemical gloves and a pair of white boxers on his head, emerging from the broken window. Police took Jeffries into custody.According to court documents, Jeffries had in his possession $40.55 in change, two bottles of Benzapril Hydrocholoride, one bottle of Teveten HCT, one bottle of Bisoprol Fumarate and Hydrochlorothiazide, one box of Antipyrine and Benzocaine Otic Solution USP and one bottle of Viagra.Jeffries told police he smashed the window with a brick and smashed the cash register to steal cash.
