The Boonslick Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) has hired former state Rep. Mike Sutherland as executive director of the organization.He replaces Steve Etcher, who resigned in June 2013 to accept another job opportunity. Etcher had served in that capacity since 1992.Long-time BRPC employee Chuck Eichmeyer has been the interim director for the organization since Etcher’s departure.Many residents within the region served by BRPC will be familiar with Sutherland who served as a state representative for the area from 2002-2010. Prior to that role, Sutherland held the position of Warren County assessor from 1997-2002.“Boonslick Regional Planning Commission is a great organization. I am honored to have the opportunity to join such an outstanding team. I appreciate the board’s confidence in me”, said Sutherland. “I am looking forward to reuniting with old friends and making new ones as we continue to work with communities in our region to be as successful as possible. Our region is growing and changing all the time. That presents opportunities and challenges. I am ready to get started working with the communities in our area to embrace the opportunities and meet the challenges.”BRPC Chairman Murray Bruer is extremely pleased to have Sutherland fill the role of executive director.“The executive board put a lot of time and effort in this selection and I believe we have chosen the right person for the position”, stated Bruer. “Mr. Sutherland has a great deal of experience with government programs and knows the area and many residents.
