Boonslick Regional Planning Commission is one of four agencies in the state to receive the 2015 NADO Innovation Award.Other recipients are Mid-MO Regional Planning Commission, Meramec Regional Planning Commission and the Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDC). The agencies received the award for their success in generating regional coordination for better access to and efficiency of public transit. Boonslick Regional Planning Commission has had a mobility coordinator for over a year and has developed a program called MO Rides. The others are in the process of hiring a mobility coordinator for their regions and share the desire to create a statewide mobility management program.Over the past two years, with financial support from the Federal Transit Administration (funds administered by MoDOT) and Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council, Boonslick’s staff has been working alongside several regional transportation stakeholders as part of a planning grant to increase regional coordination. These partners have provided the drive to improve transportation coordination in the region. The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Annual Innovation Award program honors members who have made significant impacts on their regions through innovative approaches to problem solving and program delivery. The projects will be recognized at a special reception during NADO’s 2015 Annual Training Conference, to be held Oct. 24-27 in New Orleans, La.
