The Boone-Duden Historical Society will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. in New Melle. The meeting will be held in the Kamphoefner House, the society’s museum and archives, on Highway F across from Friedens-Peace United Church of Christ Church.Ida Gerdiman will present her research on Milton Ferney, whose grave will receive a War of 1812 marker in the near future.Cathie Schoppenhorst will share some of the stories she found in researching the agriculture chapter for the upcoming book on the 1830s German Immigrant Legacy. She used translations of journals, letters home to Germany, and memoirs written by some of the early immigrants recording their experiences as followers of Gottfried Duden.This program is free and open to the public.
