Public Water Supply District 2 has issued a boil advisory for homes along Highway J north of Wright City. Residents who live between the area of Amber Lane and Mistic Drive are advised to boil water before consuming it until Thursday, Feb. 14.The boil advisory was issued at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12, after PWSD 2 detected a loss of pressure in its water lines in the area. Issuing a boil advisory is a standard practice of the water district whenever a loss of pressure is detected, in order to counteract the risk of possible contamination that may have happened during the pressure loss.During a boil advisory, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources recommends boiling water vigorously for three minutes prior to using it for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth. Residents should also dispose of any ice cubes and remake ice cubes from boiled water for the next 48 hours. To disinfect dishes, the Department of Natural Resources recommends immersion in clean tap water with one teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water.Public Water Supply District 2
