The Warrenton Board of Aldermen voted 4-2 Tuesday to increase the salary of the mayor by $250 a month.The board approved an ordinance raising the mayor’s salary from $750 to $1,000 a month beginning April 1, 2014. The move came after the board gave preliminary approval two weeks ago to increase the compensation of the mayor’s position.Aldermen John Cornell and Karen Casserly voted against the increase Tuesday.“I just think the mayor is appropriately compensated,” Cornell said at Tuesday’s board meeting.Mayor Jerry Dyer recommended increasing the salary to make it commensurate with the salaries of neighboring cities of a similar size at the last board meeting.
