Justin Webb, 33, of Bellflower, was charged with the theft of a motor vehicle, tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree and two counts of second-degree burglary in connection to a June 27 incident in Wright City. All charges are felonies.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Wright City Police Officer Collin Haney, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on June 28. Employees at Guarantee Electric reported they arrived at the facility and unlocked the gate at which point they saw an unidentified individual driving around the facility in a company vehicle.
Once the gate was open, the suspect sped past the employees out of the facility.
The truck was tracked to a location in St. Louis County where St. Louis County Police Officers detained an associate of Webb’s who was a passenger in the vehicle.
The associate identified Webb as the individual who had stolen the vehicle.
Upon reviewing security footage, Haney identified an individual matching Webb’s description entering the facility, and tampering with nine vehicles on the property, two of which sustained heavy damage.
Security footage from a separate location showed Webb arriving in the stolen vehicle on June 27.
Webb has an extensive criminal history including three prior convictions for stealing, three counts for possession of a controlled substance, one for the distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of tampering with a motor vehicle and two counts of the unlawful possession of a firearm.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and he is to be held on a $50,000 bond.
