It was a dominant offensive night for the Liberty Christian boys basketball team on Tuesday.
Playing at Crosspoint Christian in Villa Ridge, the Eagles earned the 88-60 victory.
The trio of Phoenix Obermann (33 points), Tommy Meyer (25 points, 11 rebounds) and Willy Mueller (22 points, 19 rebounds) combined for 80 of the team’s points.
Liberty (10-1) led 17-13 after the first quarter and 39-28 at halftime in rolling to the victory.
Liberty coach Butch Clark said that the game was a hard-earned win for the team.
“It was a physical game,” Clark said. “Both teams played through a lot of physical contact.”
ST. CHARLES GIRLS 41, WARRENTON 39 – The Warrenton girls started strong but, in the end, fell short against visiting St. Charles.
Warrenton led 13-12 after the first quarter but fell behind 19-18 at halftime.
Claire Goldsmith’s 10 points paved the way for the Warriors (2-3), along with five steals, while Savannah Miller and Sophia Benke each pitched in eight.
Warrenton is off until Monday, when the team hosts Elsberry (3-3) at 7 p.m.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOYS 50, WRIGHT CITY 39 – A strong first half, which featured Wright City heading to the locker room at halftime with a five-point lead, didn’t stay that way on Thursday.
The Wildcats (2-4) were outscored 27-11 in the second half.
Junior guard Dylan Lenoir and senior Grant Lehmen led the team with 10 points apiece, while sophomore Kaveon Schulte added seven points in the loss.
Wright City will next head to Warrenton on Friday for the battle of Warren County. Game time is 7 p.m.
FRANCIS HOWELL NORTH BOYS 61, WARRENTON 48 – The Warriors (1-6) found a difficult road once again at home on Tuesday, dropping a non-conference game.
