Barbara A. Martin, age 82, passed away on October 12. She was born on August 21, 1944, in Belleville, Arkansas, to the late Carl and Reba (nee Rutledge) Martin.

Barbara is survived by her two stepdaughters, Tammy (Carl) Baker and Sheila Martin; stepson, David (Vickie Warren) Harlan; brothers, Gary (Liz) Martin, Jerry Wayne (Debbie) Martin; sister, Geneva Martin; sister-in-law, Shirley Bellamy; and neighbors and great friends, Shirley and Ron Ketterman. She also leaves behind eight step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Reba Martin; her significant other, Wanda Harlan; step-son-in-law, Jerry Martin; and brothers, Lynn, Charles, Bob, and Garvin Martin.

Barbara worked for many years as a factory worker at Monsanto (MEMC). A longtime softball enthusiast, Barbara spent countless nights and weekends at the ballfield playing in tournaments. Although she eventually hung up her glove in her 50s, her love for the game never faded. She remained a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, rarely missing a game, whether watching on television or listening on the radio.

Barbara also loved spending time outdoors, tending to her garden, riding her four-wheeler, hunting, and fishing. Sometimes, her favorite pastime was simply sitting on the porch, enjoying the quiet and watching the animals. Though she was certainly not a morning person, she enjoyed making at least a weekly trip to Waffle House for breakfast. She also found enjoyment in working on crossword puzzles.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 18, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home in Warrenton. The funeral will be Sunday, October 18, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice in care of Pitman Funeral Home.
