A Ballwin man was charged with stealing $750 or more in Warren County on April 13 in connection to an incident that took place on Oct. 29, 2024.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Warrenton Police Detective James Plackemeier, Warrenton Patrolman Austin Dalton originally received a report from the Rural King of a theft on Oct. 29, 2024.

Plackemeier reported he identified the suspect as Mark Abercrombie, 50, of Ballwin. Upon review of security footage, Plackemeier watched Abercrombie place several items from the tools aisle into a box in his cart. He then grabbed several other items from the store before checking out, according to the probable cause statement.

Abercrombie attempted to purchase the remaining items that were not placed in the box and exited the store placing the items in a U-Haul truck.

The transaction later returned as “suspended” according to the probable cause statement.

The estimate for the total value of the items stolen was just under $1,200.

Abercrombie was also found to be on parole for stealing, his fourth or subsequent offense, and stealing $750 or more, according to the probable cause statement.
