Authorities have charged a Warren County man with first-degree domestic assault and unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly chased a woman with an ax in his hand.A warrant was issued for the arrest of Stanley M. Crawford Sr., 49, for the incident which reportedly happened Jan. 23. The felony charges against Crawford include a $35,000 bond.A Warren County deputy was called to the area of Highway F and Tony Lane, south of Innsbrook, around 4 p.m. for a report of an individual chasing a female with an ax, according to a sheriff’s department report. The deputy found a woman attempting to climb into the cab of a pickup truck. She told the deputy she had been chased from a residence by Crawford. The woman stated Crawford was holding an axe with a 4-foot handle, and had threatened to kill her.She told deputies she fled the residence after Crawford knocked over a television and began pouring kerosene fluid on it. The woman said she was afraid for her life, not knowing what Crawford would do next.Court records indicate Crawford has a history of violent criminal offenses and drug charges, including a conviction in 2007 for three counts of second-degree assault and two counts of second-degree domestic assault. In that case he was given a 12-year prison sentence by then-Circuit Court Judge Keith M. Sutherland.
