Authorities nab suspect in Missouri River

A suspect involved in a vehicle pursuit through Warren County was apprehended by authorities in the Missouri River near Washington Wednesday night.The Highway 47 bridge over the Missouri River was shut down for a short time about 8 p.m. as authorities searched for the man involved in the pursuit.He was taken to shore in a Washington Fire Department rescue boat.The pursuit of the man in a suspected stolen truck began in Montgomery County and traveled through Warren County before Washington police used a spike strip to disable the truck near the Highway 47 bridge.The man drove into Washington and then abandoned the truck at Washington Avenue due to flat tires, according to preliminary reports.The man then ran into a wooded area and across railroad tracks near the Missouri River. He was suspected to have jumped into the river, according to reports.The suspect was wearing khaki-colored shorts and a green shirt. He lost a shoe during the pursuit.Police were using a thermal imaging camera to search for the man in the woods and along the Riverfront Trail before he was located in the water.
