Attorney General Bailey successfully defends Warren County rape conviction involving teen victim.

Posted

Missouri Attorney General Bailey announced that his office successfully defended at the Eastern District Court of Appeals the conviction of Pedro Torres Jasso on a count of second degree rape.

Jasso was charged with rape in Warren County in 2019 after he arranged to pick up the victim near her high school. During closing arguments, the State repeatedly mentioned the 30-year age difference between the middle-aged Jasso and his teenaged victim, reflecting the unequal balance of power in connection with the manipulative and exploitative nature of his conduct.

Jasso was sentenced to seven years in prison.
