Posted

Two significant events are planned at the Tribute to Veterans Memorial in Warrenton in the next week.

First, there will be a short ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 11 to honor those who both have served and currently serve the country as well as those who have paid the ultimate price, according to the information for the event.

The ceremony is followed by a garden party reception beginning at 5 p.m. at the Schowengerdt House Gardens at 308 E. Booneslick Road.

Then at 7 p.m. Sept. 15, there will be a candlelight ceremony at the memorial to mark National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Candles will be provided to those who attend.

The ceremony will honor prisoners of war and those missing in action from all wars involving the United States and will feature the Richard Scott Haymes Marine Corps Detachment 1393 Color Guard and an honor guard from American Legion Post 180. VFW Post 2180 will lay wreaths during the event.
