Wright City senior Savannah Bridges is enjoying her final few months of her high school career. The Wildcat point guard is leading the team with 9.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while leading one of the youngest teams in the Eastern Missouri Conference. She plays three sports for Wright City and finds time to help in the community, as well. She plans on attending college in the fall, but has plenty she wants to accomplish before walking off the floor for the last time. Before tipping off her final semester of high school, Bridges sat down with The Record after being named December’s Athlete of the Month. What is your favorite part of playing basketball?“The rush it gives you. Having to run and be quick with everything makes it really exciting.”When did you start playing basketball?“Sixth grade.”What do you want to accomplish before graduating?“I want to get an all-conference patch for basketball and score more than 15 points in a game.”Who is your role model?“Megan Christopher. She was a catcher at Wright City and played softball at Mizzou a few years ago.”What was your favorite moment from playing basketball?“Definitely our lock-ins every year. It’s the best bonding time, and we eat all the food we want to, as well.”What are your plans after high school?“I plan on going to Central Methodist University to play softball, getting my teaching degree and becoming an elementary teacher.”What is it like being a leader on this team?“It’s great. I love being a leader and trying to do the best I can while being a role model for the younger players.”What is your favorite sport?“I love softball, because you never know what’s going to happen. You have to expect every little thing.”What is your favorite hobby that doesn’t include sports?“That’s tough because I’m always playing softball. But being a Girl Scout is great because you get to meet new friends and do great things for the community.”Favorite television show:“Duck Dynasty, definitely.Favorite movie:“8 seconds.”Favorite restaurant:“Texas Roadhouse.”One place you’d like to visit:“I’d love to visit Oklahoma, that would be great.”Favorite musical artist:“Jason Aldean.”— By Kory Carpenter,Record Sports Editor
