Warrenton senior Nevaeh Hill is one of several upperclassmen leading the Lady Warriors on the basketball court this season. 

Hill is in her second season as a regular starter for the Lady Warriors under second year coach Hannah Logan. Through five games this season, Hill was averaging 17 points and over seven rebounds per game to help Warrenton win four of their first five games. Hill averaged over 12 points and seven rebounds during her junior season. 

Warrenton is slated to compete in the Hy-Vee Arena Holiday Shootout in Kansas City Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. 

Q: How long have you played basketball?

A: “I started basketball whenever I was in third grade.”

Q: How did you decide to try basketball?

A: “I just wanted to try it and then I ended up liking it so I was like oh, I’m going to stick with it.”

Q: Is there any aspect of your game that has improved the most?

A: “My defense for sure has gotten a lot better because when I first started, it wasn’t the greatest. And then my offense for sure is improving too.”

Q: Was there a transition to becoming a regular starter at the varsity level last season?

A: “It was kind of the same because my freshman year, I did play varsity but it wasn’t a whole lot.”

Q: With another year of experience, are you more comfortable on the court this season?

A: “It’s kind of the same but also, I’m more comfortable this year.”

Q: What do you like about playing for Head Coach Hannah Logan?

A: “I like that she challenges everyone and she for sure supports everyone. She’s a really good coach.”

Q: What do you like about playing on the team?

A: “I like the team a lot. And some of my things I like about the team is everyone gets along with each other and it’s just really fun being with those girls. I’m going to miss them next year.”

Q: Has the team set any specific goals for the season or is the focus on each game?

A: “Kind of taking it like one game at a time, but like, also we're trying to win conference again for the second year.”

Q: Have you liked how the team has played early in the season?

A: “There’s some things that we do need to work on like our offense and then some things on defense. But for the most part I think we’re doing pretty good.”

Q: Do you hope to play basketball in college?

A: “Yes. I want to go to college and play basketball.”

Favorite Subject: “I like working with computers a lot. So I think I might go somewhere to do that.”

Ideal Travel Destination: “A place I’d love to travel to is Puerto Rico.”

Favorite Food: “That’s a tough one. That’s between steak and hamburgers.”
