How long have you been playing football?

“Since the third grade.”

How long have you been on the track team?

“I just started this year.”

Do you have plans to play either sport in college and why?

“Yes, the plan is to go play football in college. It’s always been a goal of mine since I was a little kid.”

Now that you’re a senior, how has your role shifted on the football team?

“I feel like I have more of a responsibility as an upperclassman. There’s more younger guys and I have more people looking up to me.”

What goals do you have for this season?

“I want to go 9-0. After that, I have the sack record so I want to keep adding on to that.”

What do you typically look for when going for a blitz or a sack?

“When going for a sack, I look for the quarterback to be rolling out of the pocket so I can contain the outside and make a big play happen.”

Are there any challenges with playing on both sides of the ball?

“There are some tiny challenges, but I really do like it. I like being able to help our team on both sides.”

How do you prepare for a game?

“The week before we study the other team, their best plays and we watch film. On the day of the game, I try not to think about it too much so I don’t get too overstimulated.”

What accomplishments are you most proud of in your career?

“I would say the accomplishments I am most proud of are achieving the sack record/single-season record. Also, the back-to-back undefeated seasons.”

Has playing football helped in certain areas when it comes to track?

“Playing football my whole life has helped, obviously not with technique, but it’s definitely helped me develop to be able to throw the shot put better and farther.”

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

“Before every walkout, the last song that we always listen to is Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill.”

How does your mindset shift when you go from playing defensive end to running back?

“My mindset switches when switching from defensive end to running back by focusing more on getting yards for our team to ultimately achieve a first down, instead of trying to stop a first down from happening on defense.”
