The Wright City R-II School Board named David Buck as its new superintendent during the monthly board meeting held on Tuesday.Buck, 42, has been the district’s assistant superintendent for the past seven years. He will be replacing Dr. Chris Gaines, who is leaving for the superintendent role at Mehlville in south St. Louis County.Board President Austin Jones says the board selected Buck from a pool of 23 applicants after interviewing three candidates recommended by the Missouri School Board Association search committee.Prior to joining the R-II school district, Buck served three years as principal at Warrenton High School. He began his career at Fatima High School, where he was a principal for three years after beginning as a science teacher and coach.For more on this story, see the April 23 issue of The Record.David Buck
