Zachary M. Johanning, 21, of Warrenton, has been charged with second-degree domestic assault stemming from a conflict in April.
Prosecutors issued the charge against Johanning on Aug. 31.
According to a Warrenton Police Department report, officers were called to a home on the 300 block of Oak Street East on April 13 in response to an early-morning domestic disturbance. Police said a woman at the home reported that Johanning had choked her during an argument.
The victim alleged that Johanning had put his hands around her neck, and then put her in a headlock, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Johanning also allegedly struck the woman with his forehead, police said.
Police who spoke to Johanning quote him as saying he did not mean to choke the woman, and that she would not stop yelling.
Johanning allegedly had an injury to his forehead from the incident.
