Warren County Prosecuting Attorney Kelly King will move forward with drug trafficking charges following a May 1 stop on Interstate 70.Adrian X. Frausto, 20, and Mayra A. Serena Loza, 22, of Phoenix, Ariz., each face a minimum of 10 years in prison after the Missouri Highway Patrol found more than 10 pounds of cocaine and 2 pounds of heroin in Frausto’s car.According to a probable cause statement by Corp. A.D. Gadberry, he stopped Frausto’s 2000 Ford Explorer while it traveled eastbound on I-70 near mile marker 187.Gadberry’s minuscule traffic violation for not displaying the vehicle’s registration soon escalated to a drug arrest after Gladberry stated he smelled burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. It then escalated to a felony drug trafficking charge after Gadberry searched the back of the Explorer, allegedly finding 10.45 pounds of cocaine in one duffle bag and 2.4 pounds of heroin in another. The trooper searched Loza and found two cut straws that she allegedly admitted were for ingesting cocaine. Both Frausto and Loza each received drug trafficking charges for heroin and cocaine, although Gadberry’s report does not state whether he found marijuana. The penalty for the trafficking charges is a Class B felony, which carries with it a minimum sentence of five years in prison with a 15-year maximum.Frausto and Loza remain in the Warren County Jail on a $250,000 bond.Drug Arrest
