The Wright City baseball team opened its season with a 4-3 win over Borgia at home on Monday as part of the Four Rivers Tournament.The Wildcats cranked out three runs in the first inning and another in the second.The Knights scored twice in the second inning and once in the third.Wright City had seven hits as a team, led by junior Andrew Pfuhl with two hits, including a double. He also had two RBIs.Junior Kyle Tuepker and Chase Jones each recorded one hit and one RBI a piece.Senior Devin Telkamp started on the mound, striking out four batters and walking two through four innings.Senior Adam North and junior Tyler Brittain finished the game on the mound.Warrenton 7, Duchesne 3: The Warriors won their season opener, with senior Ben Stephens striking out 11 batters and allowing no earned runs through a complete seven innings.Junior Hunter Russell went 2-for-5 with an RBI and one run scored.Junior Hunter Capstick went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored.Eureka 9, Warrenton 1: The Warriors lost on Saturday, with senior Taylor Duvel giving up four earned runs through five innings.Capstick went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.Bowling Green 13, Warrenton 9: The Warriors lost on the road on Monday in nonconference action.Junior Dallas Johnson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, recording two doubles and two runs scored.Stephens went 2-for-3 with two RBIs with a double.SOCCERWarrenton Tournament: The Warriors opened the season by going 1-1-1 in their host tournament on Friday and Saturday.Warrenton opened with a 1-0 loss against Liberty on Friday.The Warriors returned on Saturday to defeat Fulton 2-0, with Colleen Bayer contributing both goals.Warrenton tied 2-2 with Elsberry in its other contest, with Brittany Glazebook and Bayer each scoring a goal.WILDCATS WIN OPENERDerrick Forsythe photo.
