The Warrenton boys basketball team faced a 70-38 GAC loss at home on Tuesday at the hands of state-ranked St. Charles.The Warriors scored the first seven points of the game before falling behind 21-15 after one quarter and 42-27 by halftime.Senior Alec Tonioli led the way with 12 points, while senior Ryan Bradshaw netted 10 points and had five rebounds.Senior Craig Vardiman grabbed a team-best 11 boards.Union 86, Warrenton 62: The Warriors lost a nonconference home game on Monday, turning the ball over 26 times.Warrenton trailed 19-18 after one quarter and 43-33 by halftime.Union pushed its lead to 71-50 after three quarters.Tonioli finished with 11 rebounds and 21 points on 10 of 14 shooting, but the Warriors shot just 37 percent overall.Bradshaw scored 10 points, while freshman Randy McRoberts added nine points.Vardiman scored seven points and had 23 rebounds.Warrenton shot just three times beyond the arc, connecting once.Liberty Christian 69, Fulton School at St. Albans 31: The Eagles won on the road Tuesday.Senior Tanner Meyer led the way with 17 points and 11 assists for Liberty Christian, which led 21-8 after one quarter.The Eagles were ahead 41-25 by halftime.Senior Calvin Edwards added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Jake Pietzman scored 13 points.Liberty Christian 86, Eagle Ridge Christian 50: The Eagles won a home game in what Coach Butch Clark called “one of the best performances ever” on Friday.Liberty Christian led 26-6 after one quarter and 52-25 by halftime.Edwards led the Eagles with 27 points and 17 rebounds.Tanner Meyer netted 12 points while dishing out 15 assists.Jake Pietzman scored 13 points, while eighth-grader Andrew Voss added 15 points.Junior Kaleb Bagby added 10 points.GIRLS BASKETBALLLiberty Christian 58, Eagle Ridge Christian 53: The Eagles won a Metro Athletic Conference game on Friday at home.Liberty Christian led 29-28 at halftime and 46-43 after three quarters.Avery Dickson scored a team-best 22 points, while Matilyn Voss netted 13 points in just two quarters.Kaylen Jordan scored 11 points and MaKenna Meyer added 10 points.St. Charles 58, Warrenton 39: The Warriors lost a GAC contest at home on Tuesday.Sophomore Jenny Jansen led the way with 16 points.Senior Hannah Sutton added nine points.Warrenton 51, Union 44: The Warriors won a home game on Monday.WRESTLINGSullivan Quadrangular: The Warrenton wrestling team swept all three opponents during a road trip to Sullivan on Tuesday.The Warriors defeated St. James 51-20 and beat Sullivan 42-24, before handling Union 48-30.WARRENTON BOYS DROP TWO AT HOMEDerrick Forsythe photo.
