April Athlete of the Month: Corizma Blair

Posted

Corizma Blair had a late start to her final high school track career.

The Warrenton senior suffered a concussion playing football with friends before the season, sidelining her for the first four meets of the year.

“It was tough,” she said. “I had to sit on the sideline and watch everyone else compete, which wasn’t fun.”

Since coming back, Blair has run in the 200-meter, 400, 800, 1,600 relay and 3,200 relay.

“But the 200 is my favorite,” she said.

Blair’s best time in the 200 is 29.39 seconds in this year’s Crusader Invitational at St. Dominic, and she hopes to improve on her time and advance to the state meet next month.

While track is the only sport she competes in, she received a gold medal at the Missouri State Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition with her dress design, and will compete in the national competition this summer.

Blair sat down with The Record this week after being named April’s Athlete of the Month.
