Applications for SB 190 Senior Tax Credit open at county collector’s office

Posted

Applications for the SB 190 Senior Tax Credit opened on March 3 and will be available at the County Collector’s office on the first floor of the Warren County Administration Building until June 30.

To apply, seniors must have been 62 or older, and declared the relevant property as their primary residence in Warren County before Jan. 1, 2024.

A driver’s license is also required to apply. County Collector Julie Schaumberg said some residents who have their property in a trust that does not match their name have needed to produce paperwork for the trust as well.

She said that can be requested at the county recorder of deeds office on the second floor of the county building.

Eligible applicants will receive a tax credit covering the difference between their 2025 and 2024 tax bills, excepting the state tax portion and any tax related to bond indebtedness from local taxing entities.

Seniors will also be required to reapply for the credit annually, said Schaumberg.

More details will be available in next week’s edition of the Warren County Record.
