Area law enforcement officers participated Wednesday, May 29, in the 2013 Missouri Law Enforcement Torch Run, which is held to benefit the Special Olympics of Missouri. The event began in Foristell and the route ended in Warrenton. Seventeen law enforcement officers from the Warren County Sheriff's Department and police departments in Warrenton, Truesdale and Foristell took part. Businesses along the route also assisted with fund-raising efforts, according to Warrenton Police Chief Greg Houdyshell. Athletes with Missouri Special Olympics joined participating law enforcement professionals as the route proceeded along Booneslick Road in downtown Warrenton.
