Ameren Missouri recently provided the city of Warrenton with a vehicle that will allow city staff to provide certain services faster and more efficiently.
Ameren donated a used boom truck to the city’s Grounds and Maintenance Department. The truck is the type that can often be seen in work involving tall poles or trees. It has a basket mounted on an extendable arm that reaches up to 42 feet, city officials said.
Having the truck means Warrenton can do work and save money on tasks that previously required hiring contractors.
Grounds and Maintenance Director Brad Busekrus said his department will now have immediate access to city-owned street lights for repairs, enabling a faster response time and cost savings. Previously, a certain amount of lights had to malfunction before a contractor would make the repairs, Busekrus said.
He also predicted the boom truck will be put to use around the city for trimming park trees, clearing storm debris and various other construction projects.
And to break in the truck, city staff is using it to hang decorations along Main Street for upcoming holiday festivities.
