The Warren County Ambulance District (WCAD) is accepting applications from high school students who want to be part of the Explorers program.The program offers hands-on training and a potential career path to area youth.WCAD is part of the Greater St. Louis Area Council for Learning for Life: Exploring.The Explorer’s program is a work-site based program designed to enhance career awareness and leadership. Youth members attend meetings, training sessions, elect officers and participate in interactive, career-based activities.More than 50 Warren County high school students have shown interest in the program since it began five years ago. To date, 19 students have graduated as certified Emergency Medical Responders with skill objectives outlined by the American Safety & Health Institute.The students are required to complete 48 hours of classroom instructions and hands-on training, emergency call ride-alongs and 24 hours of mandatory community service hours.The Explorers Post 1599 has provided community service to BackStopper’s, Pink Heals Tour, Festival of Fun, Warren County Fair, Strassenbash Festival, Warren County Relay For Life and also maintain a section of Highway 47 through the Adopt-A-Highway program.For more information call 636-456-8413, extension 2.AmbulanceGreg Vote
