Accident leads to discovery of drugs in car

Warrenton police arrested a Chesterfield man early Sunday morning after discovering drugs inside the vehicle that left the interstate.Gene Young Kim, 25, was charged with two felony counts for drug possession and one misdemeanor count for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.Warrenton police were dispatched to a traffic accident in the area of eastbound Interstate 70 near the 189-mile marker around 11:52 p.m. Saturday night. Police reported Kim fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the interstate. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search, a plastic bag containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was seized, along with a glass pipe containing a burnt residue, according to the probable cause statement.
