The classic tale of a grouchy miser who is reformed by visits from three spirits of Christmas will show this weekend in Warrenton.
“A Christmas Carol” will be performed at the Belle Starr Theatre, 112 E. Main St., on Dec. 6 and 7 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.
The play is an adaptation of the famous 1843 Christmas story by Charles Dickens. It follows the character of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and selfish old man played by Robert King. Scrooge spends Christmas Eve being unkind to his employees, family and charitable collectors, only to be visited in the night by spirits who warn him to change his ways or go to the grave unmourned.
The performance by local actors at the Belle Starr will bring Dickens’ characters to life for live audiences this weekend only. Tickets for the play are $12. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 636-456-2510.
The play is directed by Jim Mossop (who also performs as the ghost of Jacob Marley). Starring in the show are Robert King as Scrooge, Ally Padgett as the Spirit of Christmas Past, Brian Wombacher as the Spirit of Christmas Present, and Edwin Padgett as the Spirit of Christmas Future.
