Wright City High School making progress on exterior

Posted

The construction of the new Wright City High School is coming along on schedule and starting to see more progression on the outside of the school.

Wright Construction gave the Wright City R-II School Board an update on Sept. 19.

Wright Construction had previously faced some barriers over the summer with the large amount of rain the area was receiving, which slowed down some work. However, they noted the weather has been extremely great for the past couple of months, which has allowed them to focus on the exterior.

Vegetation is starting to pop up and they are final grading areas as work continues. Bobby Christopher from Wright Construction did say there has been a lack of rain which hinders the sprouting of vegetation. However, with this week expecting some rain, he is hoping it will help blend some of the soil to allow sprouting.

On the inside of the building, Christopher said that many areas in the school are undergoing finishes, such as flooring and painting. They are also currently working on getting the systems up, which include access control systems and fire systems.

On the outside, the athletic fields are still ongoing. Weather permitted, Wright Construction is hoping to get started on the track surface in the next two weeks.

In addition, they will start working on the press box on the east side of the football field, which will allow them to start on the locker rooms. Then, they will work on the home side bleachers. They are still working on putting the turf down on the baseball field, but the rock road leading to the field has been completed.

The school is still anticipated to open in January 2025.
