Warrenton police arrested a St. Peters woman Dec. 30 after she allegedly assaulted a Warrenton man with a knife.

Ghaida G. Awwad, 34, is now facing a charge of first-degree domestic assault. Warrenton police said Awwad was taken into custody at a home on Walnut Grove Lane after the assault was reported around 11:20 a.m.

According to an arrest report, Awwad told police she came to the home to see her children, who were staying there with her estranged spouse. Awwad was denied entry into the home by her spouse, and the two got in a fight.

Police allege Awwad tried to force her way past the man and bit him on the shoulder, then drew a knife from her pocket and cut him on the arm and chest. The man was taken to the hospital by ambulance, police said.

Officers reportedly located a knife with blood on it from Awwad’s coat pocket, and reported that the coat also had blood on it.

Witnesses at the home reportedly told police that they heard the argument and came to the door to find the victim bleeding from his injuries.

Awwad was released from jail after paying 10% on a $15,000 bond. Her next court hearing is Feb. 24. She is being represented by St. Charles attorney Joel B. Eisenstein.
