The track teams at Warrenton and Wright City combined to win 11 events at the Wright City Warm Up Meet held last Thursday.
The Warriors took first in nine events, six of which came from the girls team. The Wildcats, meanwhile, captured first in two events.
Leading the way for the Warrenton girls were Veronika Besser and Grace Bostic. Besser won the 100- and 200-meter runs in 14.10 and 29.50 seconds, respectively. Bostic also swept the 100 and 300 hurdles in 16.15 and 53.73 seconds. Also claiming first was Dana Pruitt in the javelin (84 feet, 3.75 inches) and the 3,200 relay team (12:36.88).
Kassidy Haller and Madelyn Marschel earned medals in the shot put (second) and 800 (third), respectively. Pruitt took second in the pole vault (6-11.75). The 400 relay team also took second.
Kolby Meine had two of the Warrenton boys’ first-place medals. He took first in both the triple jump (39-11.5) and javelin (116-6.75). The 800 relay team also placed first.
Also placing in the top three were Will Reel (100, third), Joseph Evans (200, second; high jump, third), Jacob Parker (long jump, second), 400 relay team (second) and 3,200 relay team (second).
Wright City had one first-place finish from each of the boys and girls teams. David Riggs won the 400 in 57.98 as the Wildcats swept the top three medals. Teammates Demetrice Le Noir and Joseph De Anda followed in second and third, respectively in 58.12 and 59.02, respectively. The girls’ lone winning event was the 400 relay (59.60).
The Wright City boys had five other top-three finishes from Dalton Wiser (high jump, second), Devin Myers (triple jump, second), Noah Lamb (javelin, second), 400 relay team (third) and 1,600 relay team (second).
Also recording top-three finishes for the Wright City girls were Elizabeth Riggs (400, second), Zoe Riggs (800, second), the 1,600 relay team (third).
