After going down 13-0 in the first quarter, the Warrenton football team quickly turned it around to win their twelfth consecutive regular season game 40-35.

With three minutes left in the first quarter, Warrenton had the ball at their own 35-yard line and Brandon Johnson threw a deep pass to Mason Thompson, which was caught and taken to the endzone. Tyler Faerber’s extra point was good.

In the second quarter with less than five minutes left, Warrenton was in Liberty’s red zone and Austin Haas broke through for a touchdown. The Warriors led for the first time in the game and went into halftime winning 14-13.

In the third, Johnson fumbled while running into the endzone on a goal line drive, but it was recovered by the Warriors for a touchdown.

In the last quarter, Cole Meyer intercepted a ball from Liberty’s quarterback. Johnson also had one interception, which led him to breaking the school record for career interceptions at 11.

Less than two minutes in the fourth, the Warriors had the ball at the 36-yard line. After avoiding a blitz, Johnson scrambled away to complete a deep pass to Peyton Dawson that was taken to the endzone.

Liberty responded with a touchdown and a completed two-point conversion. The Warriors still led 27-21. Thompson added on another touchdown with six minutes left and Haas recorded a touchdown about a minute later.

With 3 minutes and 28 seconds left to go on the clock, Liberty recorded two more touchdowns to add on 14 more points. However, Warrenton stood strong and finished out the game with another exciting win.
