The Warrenton Lady Warriors rallied from a two-run deficit but fell to Kearney in the Class 4 state semifinals.
Warrenton fell to Kearney 6-3. The Lady Warriors will play for third place at 3 p.m. today against Washington.
Warrenton opened the scoring in the second inning with two outs. Caydynce Haverfield reached on an error. Makayla Witthaus scored on the play.
Kearney responded with three runs in the third inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Rose Renshaw's solo home run with two outs in the fourth inning pulled the Lady Warriors within one run. With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Haverfield grounded into a fielder's choice. Witthaus scored on the play to tie the game.
With one out in the seventh inning, Kearney freshman Brooke Paalhar hit a bases loaded double to take a 6-3 lead in the seventh inning. Warrenton was retired in order in the seventh inning.
