Thanks to a hot stretch since the new year started, the Warrenton girls basketball team has climbed back to the .500 mark.
The Warriors (6-6) have won their last three games and five out of their last seven.
They were scheduled to face Parkway West in the semifinals of the Washington Tournament Wednesday night.
They are coming off a 47-31 win over Holt in the tournament opener Monday.
Their recent win streak includes a 47-36 victory over Winfield on Friday and a 47-32 triumph on Jan. 18.
Against Winfield, Kaelyn Meyer was the leading scorer with 17 points and Zoe Klaus had eight rebounds.
The Lady Warriors defeated Winfield 47 to 36 at the varsity level. Kaelyn Meyer was the leading scorer with 17 points and Zoe Klaus had 8 rebounds. The JV won 56 to 17.
Liberty Christian’s perfect start to open the season came to an end last week. The Eagles took their first loss of the season Jan. 19 in a 58-48 defeat at Visitation Academy.
They trailed 14-9 after the first quarter and 34-26 at halftime.
Senior Andrea Mueller and senior Gracie Foran each had 13 points in the loss. As a team, Liberty Christian shot 31 percent from the field.
The Eagles (18-2) opened the Hermann Tournament Monday with a 57-29 setback to Owensville. They were outscored 41-10 in the second half. Junior Alli Meyer led the team in scoring with nine points.
The Eagles were scheduled to face New Haven on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats got down quickly and could never recover in their opening game of the Hermann Tournament Tuesday night.
They trailed 24-8 after the first quarter and 45-13 at halftime.
Denzel Dowdy led Wright City (3-10) with nine points, while Trey Brakensiek added six.
The Wildcats were scheduled to face New Haven Thursday.
Last Thursday, Wright City fell 44-41 to South Callaway. Carleon Jones had a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Hayden Waters also had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.
The Eagles held Crosspoint to two points in the opening quarter and held a commanding 45-10 at halftime.
Senior Cole Christian led four players in double figures with 17 points. Sophomore Jack Duval and senior Caleb Schneider had 13 points apiece and junior Zack Dames had 12.
