Warrenton and Truesdale Christmas events this Saturday

An annual Warrenton-area Christmas event is getting bigger this year, with Truesdale community members adding to the fun that’s happening this Saturday, Dec. 3.

Hometown Christmas is back again this year, with the main attraction of the lighted Christmas parade starting at 5:30 p.m.

The parade has a notable change this year: It’s going in the opposite direction. Paraders will start at Pinckney Street in Truesdale, then come down Highway M/Main Street through Warrenton.

The parade is open to participants, but those who wish to partake should hurry to pre-register by going online to warrentondowntownassociation.org or calling 314-306-4059. Registration is $5 per axle, and vehicles must be festively lit. Walkers and wagons can participate for free.

The Warrenton Downtown Association, which organizes the annual Hometown Christmas parade, is offering prizes for best float, along with several other activities for the evening.

Following the parade, the Downtown Association will host a tree lighting at the historical Schowengerdt House on Main Street, while Santa will be present for photos.

Truesdale activities

In Truesdale, festivities begin at the MaryLou Community Building at 3 p.m. with pizza and pictures with Santa.

Families visiting the event will also enjoy a holiday model train display brought by the Central Missouri Railroad Association, raffles and giveaways, holiday photos, and a station for kids to write their letters to Santa.

Competitors will also be bringing their entries in a chili cook-off for visitors to enjoy.

Following the lighted holiday parade at 5:30, a Christmas tree lighting will be held at Bruer Park. Attendees can then enjoy a lighted stroll around the park with free hot chocolate.

Activities in Truesdale are completely free, but organizers are encouraging everyone in attendance to bring a donation of non-perishable food items for the Agape food pantry, or a monetary donation for the Truesdale Shop With A Cop program.
