Warren County R-III School District Board of Education signs media contract

Posted

The Warren County R-III School Board approved a $45,000 contract with Gateway Media Creations, LLC to enhance the district’s broadcasts of student activities on June 12.

The board unanimously approved the contract, which includes the hiring of an executive producer position to be filled by Keith Brown, founder of Gateway Media.

Brown had previously assisted with play-by-play announcing during the past school year, but will now oversee all aspects of the district’s student activity broadcasts for the upcoming school year.

In his new role, Brown will coordinate and manage broadcasts, as well as handle advertising sales. He will receive one-third of the advertising commission, while the district will retain the remaining two-thirds to reinvest into their student activity programs.

Last school year was the district’s first year of livestreaming multiple district events. R-III Superintendent Gregg Klinginsmith was taking on the bulk of the workload on top of his superintendent duties, so the board sought to add a work position to handle the broadcasts.

Klinginsmith said Brown’s involvement will allow for a more detailed and better product. The contract outlines that at least 100 events during the 2025–26 school year will be broadcasted – a significant increase from last year.

Klinginsmith also added that last school year, the district was only able to cover home football games. This upcoming school year, they hope to cover both home and away games as it typically brought in the most views and will allow for sponsored ads to receive the most exposure.

In relation to the district’s new broadcasting class next year, district officials also hope to get students involved with the broadcast.

According to the contract, real-time commentary and announcing will be included when feasible, but the primary focus will be on delivering quality video coverage.

Additional services from Gateway Media will include on-screen graphics such as scores, team names and visuals, as well as script development for game introductions, segment transitions and sponsored content.
