Two men arrested for trailer heist

Warren County deputies may be able to solve multiple burglary cases after arresting two men suspected of stealing a trailer loaded with vehicles.

Andrew N. Leimkuehler, 19, of Warrenton, and Ralph L. Whitehead, 44, of Wentzville, were arrested Dec. 8 and Dec. 11, respectively. The men are accused of stealing a 16-foot trailer carrying a Honda three-wheeler and a Suzuki ATV from a home on Powerline Road, according to Warren County Sheriff’s Department. Arrest reports state the combined value of the items, which were stolen between Nov. 29 and Dec. 2, was estimated at $7,000.

When deputies identified Whitehead and Leimkuehler as suspects and spoke to them, they allegedly admitted to working together to steal the trailer and vehicles.

The suspects allegedly also admitted to taking the ATV to a location in Lincoln County so Leimkuehler could sell it.

The sheriff’s department said both men also made statements connecting themselves to several other property crimes. They allegedly admitted to being present for or assisting in four other burglaries and two vehicles thefts within Warren and Lincoln counties. The sheriff’s department did not provide further details about those additional cases.

The two men had initial hearings Dec. 11 before Associate Judge Richard Scheibe. The charge against them, stealing items valued at $750 or more, is a class D felony.

Leimkuehler is currently on probation for multiple assault charges that he pleaded guilty to in May this year.

Whitehead was convicted in 2010 for robbery and armed criminal action in Montgomery County according to court records. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.
