Truesdale community garden welcomes local yard waste

Posted

The Truesdale Community Garden, a partnership between the University of Missouri Extension, Warren County Master Gardeners, and the city of Truesdale, is offering a free way to dispose of leaves and grass clippings.

The garden is collecting the yard waste in composting and mulching bins that are free for public use. Anyone is welcome to drop off leaves and/or grass clippings at the gardens located at the corner of Laura Street and Conrad Circle in Truesdale. Just leave brown recyclable paper bags filled with leaves or grass along the fence, and the Master Gardeners will take care of the rest.

Leaves will be used for compost on the garden beds, and grass clippings will be used for mulching the gardens.

The Truesdale Community Garden will have beds available to the public in the spring. Soil, beds, seeds, and water are provided – the only thing missing is the gardener. The Community Garden has experts that can help nurture your inner green thumb while you grow the produce you want to grow. Beds are available for $20, with scholarships available for youth interested in learning how to garden.

If you are interested in gardening or many other programs, don’t hesitate to contact the University of Missouri Extension at 107 W. Walton St. or call (636) 456-3444. The University of Missouri Extension offers free or affordable programming and services to improve the lives of Missourians.
