Voters delivered an overwhelming vote of confidence to the Wright City School District on Tuesday, handily passing two ballot propositions to fund construction of a new high school and other school facilities.
Proposition 1967 will allow the school district to issue $37 million in bond debt, with no tax increase to voters. Proposition 2025 will generate $15 million in additional loan funding.
Funding from both ballot issues would go toward construction of a new Wright City High School between Roelker Road and Highway F, as well as renovation of the old high school as an administrative building, renovation of the old admin building as a second preschool location, and a four-room addition to East Elementary.
Over 1,400 people voted in Wright City School District elections on Tuesday. Of those, about 81 percent voted in favor of Prop 1967, and 72 percent voted in favor of Prop 2025.
NOTE: These are unofficial election results. Final election canvassing and certification will be done on Friday.
Correction: Our numbers have been slightly amended with the addition of about 150 ballots from voters in Lincoln County, who were also heavily in favor of the ballot propositions.
