Three Wildcats medal at Priory

Despite having only three wrestlers compete in the Priory Invitational on Feb. 1, the Wright City boys wrestling team placed seventh overall and all three wrestlers– Joseph Beitel, Lanes Graves and Quincy Rice– medaled within their respective weight classes.

Rice (26-10) competed in the 215-pound class and placed first. He defeated all three of his opponents by fall. In the championship match, Rice defeated Washington’s Kasen Owens in the third period to win the title. He earned 24 team points.

At 144, Graves (23-8) placed second and earned 18 team points. Graves defeated his first two opponents by fall in the first round. In the championship match, he fell to Windsor’s Max Coerver in the second round.

Beitel (21-9) competed in the 132-class and placed third. He earned 15.5 team points. Beitel went 3-1 throughout the day. In the semifinal match, he lost by fall to Parkway North’s Tariku Aaron Sosna but rallied back to place third after winning by fall in 45 seconds over Warsaw’s Isaac Daughenbaugh.
