Three Warrenton grapplers registered first place finishes in their weight class to help the Warriors earn a third place team finish at the Ft. Zumwalt South Invite.
Manny McCauley, Jacob Ruff and Zayden Teson each won their weight class at the Ft. Zumwalt South Invite. All three wrestlers went undefeated over the course of the tournament.
Teson went 4-0 to place first in the 106-pound weight class. Teson earned a pair of wins by fall and two wins by technical fall. McCauley won a pair of matches by fall to win the 113-pound weight class. In his first competition following his 100th win, Ruff earned five wins to place first in the 215-pound weight class. He won three matches by fall and one win by major decision. He also won a match on a medical forfeit.
Jeremiah Kassing, Joshua Kassing and Noah Lohrmann each earned a second place finish. Joshua Kassing won four matches to place second in the 132-pound weight class. Two of his four wins came by fall. Kassing’s lone loss came on an 8-6 decision to Ft. Zumwalt South wrestler Cameron Clark.
Jeremiah Kassing earned three wins, including two wins by fall, to place second in the 126-pound weight class. Kassing dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to Ft. Zumwalt South wrestler Zack Tihen in the championship match.
Noah Lohrmann also won three matches and placed second in the 138-pound weight class. Lohrmann won two matches by major decision. He also beat Lucas Bova or Troy Buchanan 5-3 on a sudden victory. Lohrmann dropped a 9-2 decision to Ft. Zumwalt South wrestler Ryan Poropat.
David McCauley and Lucas Burroughs also won three matches. They both placed third in their weight class. After dropping his opening match of the tournament, McCauley won his final three matches by fall to place third in the 150-pound weight class. McCauley beat Owensville wrestler Timothy Winterbauer of Owensville by fall in 3:48 in the third place match.
Burroughs went 3-2 to place third in the 190-pound weight class. Burroughs won three consecutive matches by fall after dropping his opening match of the tournament.
Max Tesson also won three matches. He placed fifth in the 144-pound weight class.
Earlier last week, the Warrenton boys wrestling team earned a pair of home dual wins over Lift for Life Academy and Wright City on Senior Night. The Warriors beat Lift for Life Academy 69-9 and Wright City 84-0. The Warrenton girls wrestling team fell to Wright City 42-12 in their match last week.
