Threat with gun leads to assault charge

Warren County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man last week for allegedly using a gun to threaten a woman while a child was in the house behind her.

Adam J. Marsden, 42, was arrested Sept. 22 at a home on Boone Trail Road, northeast of Dutzow. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor domestic assault, and felony drug possession.

In court documents, deputies describe being called just before 7:30 p.m. to assist a woman who reported being threatened with a gun. When a deputy arrived, he found Marsden outside, who reportedly said he’d been in an altercation with a woman at the home.

Marsden was detained while a deputy spoke with the woman, who alleged that a verbal argument in the garage of the home had escalated when Marsden grabbed a gun and pointed it at the woman. In the room behind her, adjacent to the garage, was the child, the woman told deputies.

Law enforcement located the handgun allegedly involved in the threat, along with several other loaded guns, in the garage. During the search deputies allege that they also located two plastic bags containing a substance that was field tested and identified as methamphetamine.

Marsden is being held at the Warren County Jail without bond. He has a hearing set for Oct. 5 for Associate Judge Linda Hamlett to consider a potential bond release.

Other charges of unlawful use of a weapon, drug possession and child endangerment have also been filed against Marsden as a result of incidents in June, according to online court records.
