Property tax payments are due to the county collector of revenue this week by Friday, Dec. 31. Payments that are received or postmarked on Jan. 1 or later will be subject to late payment penalties.
There are several ways to pay a tax bill, according to the Warren County Collector’s Office:
Accepted forms of payment include cash, check, money order, or a credit/debit card when paying online or in person. Taxpayers with multiple bills should pay for the entire amount owed with one check, according to the collector’s office.
Those with delinquent bills and penalties from previous years will have their payments applied to those bills first, and the collector’s office does not accept incorrect or partial payment amounts.
The collector’s office also has no authority to change or adjust the amount owed on a tax bill without the intervention of the county assessor’s office, according to information on the collector’s website.
Property taxes paid to the collector’s office are disbursed among 32 local public services, including schools, emergency responders, and local governments. The collector’s office estimates that it collects more than $38 million annually.
