State police nab alleged drug traffickers in Warren County

At least one suspect is being charged after getting caught moving a large quantity of marijuana and other drugs from Colorado to Virginia, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Darius I. Jamieson, 30, of Aurora, Colorado, is charged with first-degree drug trafficking, a class A felony, along with a second drug possession charge, all as a result of a Nov. 16 traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Warren County.

According to a court document submitted by the highway patrol, Jamieson and another vehicle occupant, who has not yet been charged, were pulled over while passing through Wright City.

Upon contact by an officer, the occupants exhibited “numerous indicators of criminal activity,” the highway patrol said, including a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle, large duffle bags in the rear seat and cargo area, overly nervous behavior, and conflicting information about their travel plans.

Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly located about 76 pounds of raw marijuana, 380 grams of concentrated THC, and a plastic bag containing three amphetamine pills, according to the highway patrol. Also located were $7,750 in cash and two loaded handguns.

The highway patrol said Jamieson and the other occupant were both read their rights, and then proceeded to tell officers that they were getting paid to transport the marijuana from Denver, Colorado, to Richmond, Virginia.

Authorities also said a criminal history check for Jamieson showed a number of prior felony convictions.

The charge against Jamieson was filed on Nov. 24 in Warren County Circuit Court, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
