Volunteers from Servant’s Heart, the outreach ministry of Faith Christian Family Church, outfitted in red T-shirts, showed up to bless the community on Saturday, Oct. 1 for their annual Serve Day.
“This is one of our church’s favorite days of the year,” said Denny Gladieux, director of Servant’s Heart. “Being able to help our community is what we’re all about. It’s a way that we can assist our neighbors and also thank local first responders and nonprofits that help so many every single day.”
This year on Serve Day, more than 140 volunteers served in different areas throughout Warrenton, Wright City and Wentzville.
Many residents of Lakeview Estates Mobile Home Park had their homes power washed, gutters cleaned and landscaping cleaned up. Patrons of five laundromats received free laundry services. 180 residents in senior apartments received a gift bag, a personal visit and prayers for their needs. Agape Food Pantry and Agape Thrift Store received help organizing donations. Cookie trays were delivered to police and fire stations in three communities to thank first responders for their dedication and hard work in the community.
“Serve Day is an opportunity not just to attend church, but to BE the church, by loving our community,” said Gladieux. “We have plans to reach our community with other outreaches throughout the year.”
