To celebrate the beginning of the Scenic Regional Library’s summer reading program, the New Haven, Pacific, Sullivan and Warrenton branches will each host a summer reading kick-off party on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The events will feature a bounce house obstacle course, face painting, balloon twisting, popcorn, hotdogs and drinks. The kick-off parties are free and open to all ages. Kids who sign up for the summer reading program during the kick-off parties will receive an exclusive prize.
This year’s summer reading program theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” The program begins June 1 and will have reading challenges, prizes and programs for all ages. Participants in the program can use the Beanstack app to keep track of their reading, earn badges and keep their reading streak going. Those who complete the program will earn a completion prize; a book for kids and teens and a tote bag for adults. Each participant can also put their name into a drawing for additional prizes.
Adults will have the opportunity to put raffle tickets into the prize drawing of their choice. Prize baskets will vary between branches and be sponsored by the Friends of the Library. To learn more about the summer reading program and the kick-off parties, visit https://scenicregional.org/srp.
