A Warren County man is facing domestic assault and first-degree burglary charges for allegedly breaking in the door of a former girlfriend to fight with her.
David M. Franklin, 32, was arrested Dec. 13 for the violent incident which allegedly occurred nine days prior at a home off of Highway F near Innsbrook. He was later released from jail on his own recognizance.
A Warren County sheriff’s deputy spoke with the victim after the alleged incident on Dec. 4, according to a report submitted to the court. The victim alleged Franklin entered her home early in the morning and began an argument with the woman and another man at the residence. Franklin allegedly threatened to attack the other man.
Franklin was made to leave the home, but then came back in by kicking the front door open, the woman told deputies. He reportedly pushed the woman and then exited again, allegedly jumping on her car and damaging it on his way out.
The woman said Franklin then got into his vehicle and used it to damage the vehicle of the other man before leaving the property.
Franklin was released from jail on condition that he have no contact with the victim in this case. A review of his case has been scheduled for Jan. 13 in Warren County Circuit Court. The case is being overseen by Judge Linda Hamlett of Audrain County.
