The Warrenton wrestling team had one grappler capture a title and two others who advanced to the title match in Saturday's 10-team Wright City Tournament.
Levi Penrod won all five matches to claim the title at 145 pounds. He capped the day with a 4-1 decision over Blair Oaks’ Nick Welch.
Joshua Kassing and Andrew Jones each earned a second-place medal. Competing at 106 pounds, Kassing won his first four matches in the tourney and lost in the title match by pinfall to Easton DeMilia of Blair Oaks.
At 182 pounds, Jones won three of his five matches. In the title match, he was pinned by Blair Oaks’ Camden Meeks.
Anthony Lombardo and Kyler Flowers each won three of their five matches to place third at 152 and 195, respectively. Josh Napier won two matches to place fourth at 285, while Anthony Edison recorded one win at 126 to finish fifth.
As a team, Warrenton placed sixth overall with 101 points.
Meanwhile, the host Wildcats had only three wrestlers competing in the tourney and placed ninth with 13 points. David Riggs had the best finish, capturing fourth at 120 pounds. He won two of five matches on the day.
Landon Scott placed sixth at 106 and Kyle Horneker finished eighth at 220.
Fulton won the team title with 156.5 points, while Blair Oaks followed in second with 153.5 points. Rounding out the top five were Sullivan (141), Mexico (130.5) and Liberty (126.5).
