Minor injury to officer during arrest

A Michigan man has been charged with assault against a police officer and domestic assault after a confrontation with Warrenton police last Saturday.

Keonta Williams, 31, of Pontiac, Mich., was arrested for the two assault charges Jan. 16 outside a home on Villas Drive in Warrenton. Warrenton police were initially called to the location for a fight in progress, according to an arrest report.

Upon arrival, police said they requested Williams to remain at the scene, but he refused and began walking away. The arrest report states a police officer put his hand on Williams’ chest, and when Williams tried to push past the officer, the officer attempted to detain him.

That led to a struggle in which Williams eventually lifted the officer by the waist and threw him to the pavement, police allege. The officer reportedly fractured his wrist in the fall.

Williams was arrested by other officers at the scene.

A woman at the home alleged Williams had engaged in a physical fight with her during an argument and struck her.
